Clay Studio Leiden Work for a ceramic artist/designer/teacher whose work is in museums and over 250 private art collections in the world!
The intern/assistant/apprentice will help me and my team run the studio more efficiently by helping with all aspects of the business. Depending on the student's skill level, they may be asked to help with marketing, photography, develop business ideas or more technical tasks such as making slabs or painting studio samples to be used in glazing workshops as exemplary pieces; or more everyday tasks such as cleaning, organizing, loading and unloading kilns. The more skilled/experienced/professional the intern, the more relevant and high-level jobs they will be given. If the student is at a level where they can teach a short workshop, they might be invited to teach a workshop and may even be paid according to the subject and their skill level. If the student is at a level where they are still in the beginning of their creative path, they will be given more low-level tasks such as preparing the studio before workshops, cleaning, organizing or creating small samples, etc.

I have a master's degree in ceramic design but I am also an artist, photographer, product designer, business owner and developer, community builder, story teller, teacher, mentor and people-connector. I am the one in charge of every aspect of my business from concept to making, from marketing to networking and from business development to HR. My long-term assistants are much more than employees for me. They are an integral part of my studio, community and business so I love passing on my skills and knowledge and know-how to them. I don't only employ my assistants to help run the business. I teach, support, nurture, advise and challenge them if necessary. I want them to be successful, fulfilled and happy with their life and careers and treat them like family.
