• Omschrijving The Eugénio de Almeida Foundation is a private law institution in the public-interest, based in Évora, Portugal. The Foundation main statutory aims are focused on the cultural, educational, and social domains, striving for a full, inclusive and sustainable human development of Évora’s region. Through a proactive strategy of sustainable development, the Foundation is guided by a sense of community service, promoting projects and creating products recognized by their quality, excellence, innovation, and also by their potential to bring positively impacts in the society, helping to reduce the consequences of isolation, depopulation, ageing and regional disparities. The Eugenio de Almeida Foundation has a team of workers made up of about 200 collaborators and 100 regular volunteers. The Foundation has specialized human resources in project management and financial administration, being an organization with a young, competent and adaptive team. At Social and Development Area, Foundation seeks to play a meaningful and effective role into the promotion of human dignity in all its dimensions, considering values of solidarity, social justice and fulfilment of the individual and the community as the pillars for its institutional project. In this respect, it invests in the exercise of full, active and supportive citizenship through the training and qualification of social organizations and players, and through the promotion of action-research projects, particularly in the field of Volunteering. The Foundation is qualified with the quality label for management in volunteering “Join4Change”, and also, in 2021, Eugenio de Almeida Foundation has been recognized with European Solidarity Corps Quality Label, and have received other several recognitions. The Foundation has been recognized by it works in along the years, at volunteer program and social-innovation projects. In 2016, Eugenio de Almeida Foundation has signed an agreement with Portuguese Government in order to promote social entrepreneurship and social innovation at Alentejo Central region. In 2018, the Centre for Social Innovation of Eugenio de Almeida Foundation starts to work, with local organizations, social entrepreneurs, public bodies and business entities. New training programs are being development, social innovation startups are being supported and training programs for youth are have their first results. Besides, Eugenio de Almeida Foundation is also promoting Digital Social Innovation. Eugenio de Almeida Foundation has a large experience of development national and European projects in different areas, multiplying it funds order to amplify it work in social and regional development areas. Among the various permanent programs already in place, it is worth highlighting the Eugénio de Almeida Grant, awarded every year to students at Évora University; the projects supporting scientific research and knowledge production. By providing financial aid to private individuals and private social-solidarity institutions, the Foundation work aims to reach the underprivileged strata of the population, promoting social inclusion and equal opportunities. Eugenio the Almeida Foundation is, at the present moment, the President of the Board of Portuguese Foundation Center, and is represented in several forums for regional development, such as the Regional Council for Innovation.
